Is The Christian Right Morally Equivalent To The Taliban? – Enabling Islam Through Absurd Attempts At Moral Equivalence

The following graphic was left on a new friends FaceBook page by a visitor here. It is exemplary of how some Liberals, Atheist, Humanist, and other non-Christians are willing to go to absurd lengths of equivalence to obfuscate the issue of Islamic terrorism and the “Civilization Jihad” that is Islam – and this puts us all in jeopardy. Please take a moment to read the graphic, I’ll continue my commentary on these absurd comparisons below.
This graphic might be more appropriately named “Comparing the Tea Party to the Taliban” (because the poster said,, “Sound familar??, Who does the TEA Party remind YOU of?”, and “they are one in the same!!”) or it could be named “Comparing Christianity and Islam”,, but even that has problems because not all on the “far right” are Christian and not all Christians are on the far right. Many Christians are liberals these days. But it is guaranteed that all Taliban are the same in ideology and purpose, no matter what you want to call it. The use of loaded terms is a small problem compared to the actual comparisons employed. Lets look at a few. The first absurd comparison that jumped of the graphic at me was…..
1.”vilify gay people”
Taliban – “Kill gay people outright” VS. Christian Right Wingers – “Pray the gay away” & “put gays people in electrified pens until they die”
I mean come on,,, out-right killing of gays against praying them away is not a moral equivalence. And as a Christian I can say I have never “prayed a gay away” and I have never heard another Christian do so neither. But I have seen Islamic Countries and Groups hang gays in the public square. And when have Christians or Conservatives ever put gays in electrified pens? Non-Christians often point out that the bible says twice that homosexuals will go to hell, but they are ignorant or dishonest about the fact that those same two list of sins of the hellbound contain sinful behaviors common to all men, like lying. It seems that some on the left and some non-Christians are the ones trying to vilify.

2. “Abrogate female rights and dignity”
Taliban – “Woman Bad, Men Good” & “woman starve if they have no companion” VS. Christian Right Wingers – “Woman Bad, Men Good” & “eliminate reproductive health care for woman”.
While the bible does say that a woman is not to preach in public and is to submit to her husband, non- Christians like to ignore that the same text says a husband has a higher calling of submission and is to love the wife the same as Jesus Christ loved His church – willing to live and die for her. The bible also says whether Jew or Gentile, Bond-Servant or free, male or female, we are all of the same worth.
Conversely the Koran says woman are 1. Deficient in intelligence and religion. 2. Hell will be full of mostly woman because they are the worst curse Allah has sent upon men. 3. Their testimony is worth half a mans. 4. They are entitled to half the family inheritance of a man. 5. Are to be beaten if not compliant to request for sex from husbands. 6. Must have four witnesses to allege rape, or the woman gets punished with stoning for bringing the charge. 7. Kill Woman guilty of lewdness by starvation. 8. Female Genital Mutilation is prescribed to insure the woman’s fidelity. 9. Raping of woman is allowed. 10. Women are possessions (What the right hand posesses). 11. Not wanting to pay for birth control for others is not quite the same as woman starving if they have no companion.
3. “Force beliefs on fellow citizens”& “Integrate religion and governance”
Taliban – “making copies: converts non-believers, Prayer in school: Religious beliefs = Public policy, Indoctrinate the young” VS. Christian Right Wingers- “making copies: converts non-believers, Prayer in school: Religious beliefs = Public policy”
Atheist, Humanist, Communist, and agnostics alike proselytize. Christians don’t want to force their beliefs on others, we just don’t want our beliefs and world-view cast out of the public square to make a minority happy.
Christians fought for separation of church and state and would do so again because that is what our scripture teaches – our religion is spiritual and our kingdom not of this world. Contrarily Islamic scripture has very little to do with spirituality or how a Muslim gets to heaven, and is mostly political or how Muslims are to treat non-Muslims. And given that Islam divides the world into “the house of submission” and “the house of war”, and there are 527 verses of intolerance toward non-Muslims, and 109 verses specifically advocating violence towards non-Muslims in the Koran that abrogate any “peaceful verses”, and the majority of the Muslim Uhmah are clamoring for a renewed Caliphate – everyone should be highly concerned, especially non-Christian and Jew Non-Muslims who do not get the dhimmitude option codified in the Pact of Umar and all schools of Islamic Sharia jurisprudence. In Islamic countries and even some non-Islamic western countries, Madrasah’s only teach the Koran.
Perhaps it would do some people some good to ask what happened to the Zoroastrians.
The story of the Persian empire, in my opinion, is one of the strongest evidences that Islam is not a religion of peace and is bent on making all religion the religion of Allah. Persia is modern day Iran and how it became Muslim is very important because it shows the almost total annihilation of the religion Zoroastrianism at the hands of Islam. Zoroastrianism was the official religion of 3 successive Persian Empires and was one of the worlds largest religions when Islam was born but there are now less than 200,000 Zoroastrians in the world and less than 0.1 % of the Iranian population is Zoroastrian. In effect, the subjugation of Zoroastrianism by Islam has almost resulted in its extinction. Today Iranians barely remember that they where once Persian and Zoroastrian.
INVADE, CONQUER THEN SUBJUGATE – TALK ABOUT FORCING BELIEFS ON FELLOW CITIZENS

4. “Violent”
Taliban – “Deity wants suicide bombings and public beheading”, “Pakistan” and “holy war” VS. Christian Right Wingers – “Deity wants us to vilify and ignore those that are poor, vulnerable and sick”, “bomb abortion clinics, kill doctors” and ‘holy war”.
Even if it where true that the Christian God commands such things, and even if Christians where to have this attitude about the unfortunate, it would not compare to suicide bombings and public beheadings. Liberals like to characterize others as evil while liberalism equals compassion. In the last 30 years abortion clinic bombings have only occurred ever 3.5 years and Christians have been very vocal that this is not Christianity. Almost 19,000 Islamic terrorist attacks have happened around the world since 911, and there is no outrage from “moderate” Muslims.
CONCLUDING RANT
Since this poster said “I hate this sh!t! Believe in god, hate religion! They can all go to hell…..LOL”, and this graphic has been shared no less than 1200 times – it should be clear that because some people “hate religion” so much, they are not capable of identifying the dangers of Islam, they are xenophobic and more than willing to mis-characterize the ones they are against to ignore the very real and present danger of Islam. But thankfully some like Atheist Sam Harris, Bill Maher and Christopher Hitchens find a way to see Islam as it is,, while still hanging on to their seething hatred for Christianity and all religion. Maybe one day some of the ones who shared this graphic will see things like the following non-Christian counter-jihad sites…..

OR will too many non-Christians continue to use such absurd comparisons, to the detriment and downfall of us all? I GUESS TIME WILL TELL. But I’m not very optimistic. I think it’s going to take a nuke or an EMP attack to jar most of them from their slumber and insane attempts at moral equivalence. But unfortunately in the event of the later, it will never happen because most of us will be dead within 12-18 months.
Can these people tell us how right wing Christians or the Tea Party represent this kind of potential threat.

UPDATE: It has been pointed out that the graphic originates from this blog. The article points to one pastor who recently said “Build a great, big, large fence — 150 or 100 mile long — put all the lesbians in there. Do the same thing for the queers and the homosexuals and have that fence electrified so they can’t get out… and you know what, in a few years, they’ll die out… do you know why? HELLO!!! Have these guys ever heard of a hypothetical analogy to make a point? Even so, the pastor should be ashamed of himself and more careful about what he says and how he says it, and Christians speak out against Worley here. One thing is for sure,,, this man was not getting his directives (if they are that) from the Bible and the Islamic views on homosexuality are formed from the writings of the Qur’an and various Hadith narrations. It is not only a sin, but a capitol crime under Islamic law and, as pointed out above, carried out in Islamic countries.

“Well, considering we don’t force conversion on fear of death, we allow people to change to another religion if they want to, we don’t impose 2nd class citizenship taxes on non-christians, we don’t have scripture that allows us to lie to people if we think it is good for our God (ends justify the means), we don’t have honor killing as part of our religion, we don’t regard Jews and other religions as pigs, we don’t just remain civil until our numbers rise where we can start demanding changes because of our religion, we don’t have countries where only our religion is allowed, we don’t cause riots and mayhem if our societies losers make fun of our Lord Jesus Christ, and generally losers in our society who continually slam us do so because they are not afraid Christians to go all jihad on their asses. So no, they are not anywhere near the moral equivalent of each other.”
